What to do in the situations people ring us about, written by somebody who fits tyres for a living.
- Broken down on the M1 with a flat tyre? Get somewhere safe first. Then ring us and we will come to you.
- Flat tyre on the driveway? Don't drive on it. We'll come to the house and sort it where it stands.
- Flat tyre in the work car park? Book a slot, leave the keys, get on with your day.
- Need a tyre in the middle of the night? The van is not tied to workshop hours.
- Van tyres, fitted at your yard A van off the road costs more than the tyre does.
- Can your puncture be repaired? Sometimes yes, sometimes not — and it is not a judgement call.
- How much tread do you actually need? 1.6mm is the legal minimum. It is not the sensible one.
- Are part-worn tyres any good? Bought properly, yes. Bought badly, they are a false economy.
- Hit a pothole and something does not feel right? A bulge in the sidewall means the tyre is finished. Do not drive on it.
- Your car came without a spare. Now what? Most new cars have a can of gunk and a compressor. That only gets you so far.
